Preparing for Windows 10 End of Support
Microsoft has announced that support for Windows 10 will end on 14 October 2025. After this date, Windows 10 tablets will no longer receive new security updates or fixes.
What does this mean for Donation Stations?
The good news is that our Donation Station software is fully compatible with Windows 11, so if your device is running or upgraded to Windows 11, everything will continue to work as expected.
What if my Donation Station is running Windows 10?
The way forward for each device will depend on when it was purchased, here is what the change could mean for you:
- If your device is already running Windows 11: There’s nothing to do — you’re ready for the future.
- Devices running Windows 10 that were deployed recently can likely be upgraded remotely: Contact our support team who can handle this for you.
- Some devices running Windows 10 are eligible for the upgrade, but we’d need the device sent back: You can ship the device back to us to be upgraded. This service costs £135 (including collection & return shipping).
- Our Donation Stations are long lasting, so some customers will have devices that are several years old and don’t support Windows 11: In these cases we can upgrade the tablet for you, but there will be a cost to upgrade.
Why would I need to upgrade?
It is best practice for all IT products to be updated to the latest version of an operating system and to be up-to-date with security fixes. In many cases corporate IT teams will insist upon it for data security and PCI compliance reasons.
If you’re part of a smaller organisation and don’t have formal IT policies, it is still a good idea to upgrade and future-proof your solution.
No Immediate Action Needed
There’s no need to worry or make urgent changes right now. We’re simply sharing this update so you know what’s coming. The Donation Station software will continue to run and you can process this update as time allows.
