GWD vs GoodBox: Raise more with the Donation Station
Not all contactless donation devices perform the same. This comparison sets out the differences between GWD’s Donation Station and Goodbox and how this might impact the amount you raise.
Midi Donation Station
The Donation Station range is bold, brandable and highly visible; with printable panels and customisable screens, these devices effectively grab donor attention. Charities tend to be busy places with lots going on, so ensuring that your device is easy to find, even from a distance, prevents them getting lost in the background.
GWD designs donation technology to support charities long term. Our Donation Stations are built on robust hardware from established suppliers and run on continuously developed, in-house software, which reduces obsolescence, extends device life, and avoids the need for frequent replacements.
The GWD Donation Station uses a large 10″ landscape screen with a clear, custom on-screen keyboard designed specifically for self-service use. This purpose-built interface guides donors cleanly through the Gift Aid journey and, combined with automatic reclaim, delivers Gift Aid on over 68% of donations with no added admin.
We know that not all fundraisers are technical wizards, so GWD provides hands-on, responsive support tailored to your team’s technical confidence. Our in-house experts respond within two hours and work closely with customers to keep devices active, effective, and generating income.
GBx Flex
Smaller devices are easily missed. GoodBox units are not much bigger than a smart phone, meaning there is a lot of work needed by signposting and staff in order to grab the attention of passers-by. Devices that don’t stand out and blend in to the background result in missed income. If your donors can’t see a device, they won’t donate.
GoodBox has been through multiple device versions over time, with older models regularly reaching end of life and limited continuity across the range. For charities, this creates risk: shorter device lifespans, no repair options or upgrade path and uncertainty about whether long-term support can be provided.
GoodBox relies on a QR-code Gift Aid flow separate from the device, requiring donors to complete a second journey on their own phone. This extra step introduces friction and drop-off at the point of Gift Aid, resulting in significantly lower completion rates compared to on-device capture and reducing your overall income.
GoodBox support typically operates on a 3–5 working day response window, increasing downtime and lost donations when issues arise. For non-technical teams, this can make devices harder to manage and undermine confidence in contactless fundraising altogether.
Unlock a better giving experience with GWD
With fewer and fewer people carrying cash, contactless donation devices are becoming an essential part of giving, but many charities are put off by the complexity.

Our devices are highly visible and purpose-built for fundraising, with expert support available as standard.
