Why charitable gifts are a growing trend

Many people are becoming tired of the practice of swapping unwanted Christmas gifts

Maybe you have found yourself in this group of people who are increasingly searching for an alternative and one that will make a difference to others.

If you no longer want to be part of the crowd buying things that mean little and do not go to something useful, then charitable gifts are something you should learn about.

What Are Charitable Gifts?

When you make Christmas charity donations or contribute towards charitable gifts, your friend or family member receives a card outlining the donation you have made.

Charitable gifts have moved on recently, and they give you more choice and control over where your money goes. When you donate directly, you can support a particular cause or purchase an unwrapped gift, such as a goat for a struggling village family.

Examples of charitable gifts that change lives in communities around the work include:

  • Macmillan, who provide care for someone with cancer
  • A £15 donation to Unicef buys 100 polio vaccines for children
  • A £21 donation with Save the Children buys five mosquito nets
  • £3 per month will allow you to adopt a share of an elephant with WWF
  • Give £25 to the Woodland Trust, and they will plant 25 square metres on new woodland

Remember to use Gift Aid if you pay tax. By ticking the Gift Aid box, the charity can reclaim the tax, adding value to your charitable gifts.

How This Helps Charities

By supporting a charity, you are helping those less fortunate. This might mean that the charity will be able to provide Christmas dinner to people sleeping rough or provide a Christmas meal parcel for women and children escaping domestic violence.

Whether you have planned well ahead of time or are a last-minute shopper looking for a virtual gift, you have plenty of options to help the elderly, save lives through vaccination programs, or buy livestock for villagers.

Attract Loop

Part of the Donation Station’s key visual design features, the Attract Loop are screensavers purposefully designed to run on a loop. Created by GWD with your input, they use visuals or photography, plus an emotive call to action, to catch the donors interest and lead them towards donation through interactive storytelling.

Customisation

The entire Donation Station is open to branding, from external display to on-screen logos, photography and your brand look and feel.

Our design support service can adapt visuals and graphics to suit your brand.

Wifi or 4G/5G Data SIM

Where you need it, the Donation Station can be supplied with Data or Wifi connectivity.

If using the device in a remote location or at an event, it’s worth considering the signal strength available – GWD can support you to ensure there’s a smooth running operation on the day.

Safe & Secure

All data is transmitted with full encryption, so you can be sure that all individual donor data is safely used, in accordance with GDPR regulations.

Choice of Donations

Giving choice on where the donor wants their money to be spent empowers them further. The Donation Station asks this question and gives charities freedom to present their causes and activities as separate campaigns.

Gift Aid Up Sell

An integrated Gift Aid function on all Donation Stations helps boost fundraising a further 25%. This tax relief can be claimed from HRMC from any donor that supplies their contact details and makes a declaration, as a UK tax payer. The Donation Station is designed to encourage and secure this additional fundraising income easily, through simple reports that can be downloaded and submitted to HMRC as part of a Gift Aid claim.
